Lake Worth Playhouse
Lake Worth
The Lake Worth Playhouse is a historic downtown theater featuring a classic marquee, performance spaces, and direct access to the walkable arts and entertainment district of Lake Worth Beach. The main auditorium features approximately 300 seats, a traditional proscenium stage, balcony seating, backstage support areas, and a welcoming lobby that retains the feel of a classic neighborhood theater. A dedicated black box and independent cinema venue, the Stonzek Theatre, expands the property's filming versatility, while recent upgrades to seating, finishes, and rehearsal spaces help preserve the theater's historic character while supporting modern productions.

The Lake Worth Playhouse is one of Palm Beach County's oldest continuously operating performing arts venues and a defining landmark within the historic downtown of Lake Worth Beach. Located directly on Lake Avenue, the theater is integrated into an active commercial streetscape, allowing productions to capture both the character of a classic theater and the energy of a walkable downtown district without relocating.
The theater's Art Deco styling and vintage marquee create an authentic classic cinema appearance within the walkable downtown arts district. Rather than standing alone on its own parcel, the Playhouse is woven into a continuous block of storefronts, restaurants, galleries, and neighborhood businesses, creating an authentic Main Street atmosphere that feels active and lived-in.
Inside, the venue offers a traditional proscenium stage, auditorium seating, backstage support areas, lobby spaces, and theater circulation that can portray a performing arts center, historic cinema, community theater, or live entertainment venue. The combination of audience seating, stage lighting, and backstage access provides productions with a complete performance environment in a single location.
Outside, Lake Avenue extends the filming possibilities with colorful storefronts, sidewalk cafés, public art, mature street trees, and pedestrian activity. Depending on camera angle and set dressing, the surrounding streetscape can portray an arts district, neighborhood business corridor, or small-town downtown with a distinctly South Florida character.
The Lake Worth Playhouse offers filmmakers a complete theater experience paired with one of Palm Beach County's most visually engaging downtown environments.
Scout Note
The theater's marquee and façade create an instant establishing shot, especially when framed within the surrounding block of historic storefronts along Lake Avenue. Because the Playhouse is part of a continuous downtown streetscape rather than a standalone building, productions can easily transition between interior theater scenes and exterior pedestrian activity without a company move. The surrounding architecture, restaurants, galleries, and sidewalk cafés help create an authentic neighborhood atmosphere that works equally well for period pieces, independent films, commercials, and contemporary productions. Evening filming is particularly effective when the marquee and downtown streets are illuminated, reinforcing the district's arts and entertainment character.
