West Palm Beach, FL – Subculture Film Fest, a showcase of independent cinema in South Florida, is excited to reveal its artistic new poster design for the upcoming second annual festival. The artwork, created by the talented local artist Adam Sheetz, captures the spirit of West Palm Beach through a unique blend of creativity and geography.

Drawing inspiration from a map of West Palm Beach, Sheetz weaves together its beautiful urban tapestry in his poster design. The poster serves as an introduction to the diverse range of cinematic experiences that Subculture Film Fest will deliver.

Subculture Film Fest is set to take place from October 20th to 22nd, 2023. This three-day event promises to captivate audiences with a curated selection of independent films from South Florida and beyond, industry panels, filmmakers’ conversations, and technical workshops. The festival seeks to celebrate the diverse voices of filmmakers and provide a platform for their artistic endeavors.

The festival will open at the Norton Museum on Friday, Oct. 20, followed by festival days at Gstar Studios on Saturday, Oct. 21, and a closing day at The Peach, on Oct. 22.

Subculture Film Fest is also delighted to announce the selection of its opening night film, ASK HER ABOUT THE ART, directed by South Florida filmmaker Karim Dakkon. The vérité documentary delves into the story of Carol Strict, a remarkable individual who collects prison art. The film will premiere at the Norton Museum in West Palm Beach on October 20th, opening night, at 6:30 p.m.

ASK HER ABOUT THE ART unveils the journey of the Strict family and their dedication to providing incarcerated individuals with a platform for expression through art. The film also delves into the thought-provoking exploration of the prison industrial complex, shedding light on its intricate dynamics and the impact it has on artists within the system, and igniting discussions that reverberate long after the closing credits roll.

Tickets for this year’s Subculture Film Fest will go on sale the first week of September at www.subculturefilmfest.com, with 3-day all-inclusive passes starting at $75. Other tiers will be available for purchase, and parties will be open to the public and sold separately.
