NAVIGATING PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP'S MAR-A-LAGO AIRSPACE

Filming The Palm Beaches with drones offers incredible opportunities to capture the County’s coastal beauty, luxury estates, and diverse landscapes. But with President Donald Trump’s seasonal return to Mar-a-Lago, a year-round Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is now in place. These airspace limitations vary depending on whether the President is in town or not, and can make drone operations more challenging.

However, the Film & Television Commission (FTC) is well-versed in navigating these TFRs, having coordinated similar situations during the President’s first term.  Drone flights within TFR areas require an FAA waiver for approved operations. The FTC works closely with local and federal law enforcement agencies to accommodate productions safely and efficiently if-and-when possible. With the right preparation and coordination, filmmakers can continue capturing The Palm Beaches from above.
