Movie Money CONFIDENTIAL Feature Film Releases March 2022
(North Hollywood, CA) . . . Worldwide distribution rights for the feature length documentary Movie
Money CONFIDENTIAL (MMC), Burt Reynolds' last film, have been acquired by Kaczmarek Digital
Media Group (KDMG). The critically acclaimed film will be released on streaming sites and in select
theaters in March 2022. Inspired by Louise Levison’s best-selling book Filmmakers and Financing:
Business Plans for Independents, MMC also features producer-actress Salma Hayek.
Filmmakers shot over 100 hours of footage and interviewed around 60 people on camera
including producers, directors, writers, actors, authors, attorneys, financial consultants,
investors, fundraisers and movie stars. "Our goal was to reveal long-held secrets about funding
movies, educate and inspire others to tell their stories and realize their dreams," says writer-director
Rick Pamplin. "Viewers will learn the secrets of Hollywood and independent film financing from industry
insiders - and the previously untold behind-the-scenes story of The Blair Witch Project," he added.
Author Louise Levison taught film financing at UCLA in Los Angeles for 22 years and is the
author of several business plans for successful independent films. Filmmakers approached her
about adapting the book into a documentary feature film and telling the true story of how she
created the business plan for The Blair Witch Project - the most profitable independent film ever made -
and other films such as Salma Hayek’s Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet.
Producer Scott duPont helped adapt the Levison book (then with eight editions, including
one published in Mandarin Chinese) to the screen and make the subject appeal to all movie lovers
to reach a wide audience. Pamplin drafted a 10-page detailed outline including some of the people
he wanted to interview, as well as actual investors in the film. "The entire movie was unscripted,"
says duPont, "as it was very difficult to book interviews, even with our own investors. The subject
was taboo and off-limits and one shooting day we received seven last-minute cancellations."
Filmmakers persisted and eventually found their subjects and answers that revealed inside
information and insights into funding films, how it’s done, what works, what doesn’t and how to
find and attract investors.
Producer duPont even pitched an unsuspecting potential investor on camera
as he continued raising money during filming to illustrate the process. The unrehearsed pitch and
surprising answer are included in the final cut of the film. Movie stars and Academy Award nominees
Burt Reynolds and Salma Hayek, plus Louise Levison, among many others, disclose secrets, share
their experiences and offer invaluable advice in this bold, groundbreaking documentary.
Early reviews have praised the film, such as The Dove Foundation, saying "With great advice
from start to finish, Movie Money Confidential gives important details on how to create a film with
little to no budget. This documentary is full of great information, including tips for people to
start making their own films. It includes one-on-one interviews and panels with questions asked by real
actors and aspiring producers . . . a fantastic documentary with great visuals and audio."
MMC is presented by Nemours Marketing, Inc., in association with Pamplin Film Company,
a Think Visual Group Production produced by Scott duPont and Maggie Pamplin, co-producer and
editor Jon Zietz, associate producer and director of photography Eddie G. Cabrera.
