FLASHBACK FEATURE: EMPIRE OF THE ANTS
Released in 1977, Empire of the Ants is a science-fiction horror film starring Robert Lansing and Joan Collins in her first role. The story follows land developers attempting to sell beachfront paradise on undeveloped swamp land, which quickly becomes nightmarish when a toxic spill turns harmless ants into gigantic monsters.
Filmed in PBC’s natural areas, in Juno Beach, and in the western community sugar fields, the film has garnered cult classic status over the decades since its release. Iconic scenes feature the ants taking control of a sugar plant for human brainwashing and marching along the former Juno Beach pier. Learn more at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empire_of_the_Ants_(film).
