September 27, 2021 - Film Florida, the state’s only trade association that represents all sectors of the film, television, production and digital media/tech industry, has launched Season 4 of the Film Florida Podcast highlighting the people and stories that make-up the multibillion-dollar industry in Florida. Episodes of the Film Florida Podcast are available through Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher, the iHeartRadio App and the Film Florida Website.
“The people and stories we highlight helped shape the industry in Florida and are continuing to work towards growing and strengthening the production community in our state,” Gail Morgan, President of Film Florida said. “Florida has such a deep history in the film, television and digital media industry and our goal is to tell these important stories. We aim to continue to help listeners learn more about the history, economic impact, and overall importance that our industry plays in Florida’s past, present and future.”
Episode 1 of Season 4 features Florida-based Producer and Production Manager Elayne Schneiderman Schmidt, who’s most recent work includes a series of made-for-television romantic comedy films shot in the Bay Area but her career dates back to the 1980’s with Miami Vice and other iconic Florida films including The Birdcage, Moonlight and The Florida Project. Additional guests in Season 4 include representatives from Slamdance Miami, a former State Film Commissioner, and current legislators, along with producers, directors, writers, production managers, actors, and more.
“We’ve produced 77 episodes in the first three seasons of the Film Florida Podcast and we look forward to taking the podcast to the next level in season 4,” John Lux, Executive Director of Film Florida and host of the podcast said. “As I prepare for each interview I learn something new about every person or subject. If people enjoy the podcast half as much as I’ve enjoyed the conversations, it will be a big success. This gives the industry in Florida a platform to learn more than a short article or quick social media post; these are in depth stories about the people and behind-the-scenes history that make up Florida’s film, television and digital media production industry.”
Episodes generally range from 20 to 40 minutes, are available on mobile and/or desktop devices and will be released every other week through the end of May.
