FILM FLASHBACK: SNAKEHEAD (2021)

The independent crime drama Snakehead, produced by Brian Yang, brought its gritty Chinatown underworld storyline to Riviera Beach for key waterfront filming. The production secured access at the Port of Palm Beach, transforming the working port into a backdrop for both dockside scenes and a climatic scene staged on open water.

Through coordination with Port of Palm Beach, Kevin Teeters of Monarch Shipping Company emerged with the Monarch Countess, an active commercial vessel that was used for two nights of filming. Productions shot interior boat scenes and a creative “man overboard” camera gag with the vessel underway.

While the story is rooted in New York’s underground world, the Port of Palm Beach provided a convincing and fully operational stand-in, blending authenticity with logistical flexibility that helped support this independent film that premiered at Toronto Film Festival in 2021.
