FILM FLASHBACK: BODY HEAT

From the writing, to direction, to character arcs, and performances by William Hurt, Kathleen Turner, Ted Danson and Mickey Rourke, Body Heat is one of the finest examples of film noir ever made. Despite being filmed during a cold snap in Palm Beach County, the film captures a steamy summer mix of passion, betrayal and murder.

Locals will recognize the City of Lake Worth Beach City Hall dressed as Miranda Beach City Hall. Character Ned Racine’s office scenes were filmed at 811 Lake Avenue and a vacant store was dressed as Stella’s Diner. An initial box office success of $24M on a $7M budget, along with the atmospheric use of the Sunshine State, inspired filmmakers to consider Florida as more than just a vacation destination and propelled Florida-born Laurence Kasdan’s career from writer to director.
