EDUCATION CORNER: STUDENT SHOWCASE OF FILMS DEADLINE EXTENDED

Great news for Florida’s student filmmakers, writers, and digital media artists. The submission deadline for The Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films (SSOF) has been extended by one week, giving students extra time to complete and submit their projects.

The new deadline to enter is Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The competition remains completely free to enter and is open to all Florida high school and college students, including those who are homeschooled. Students may submit projects in a wide range of categories, including feature and short films, documentaries, music videos, animation, screenwriting, commercial, environmental, and tourism PSAs.

More than $30,000 in cash, scholarships, and prizes will be awarded this year. Palm Beach County high school seniors are also eligible for the $5000 Burt Reynolds Scholarship, with runners up considered for additional scholarships including the Sara Fuller, Mel Maron, Gray Family, and Dr. B. Carleton Bryant Scholarships.

Winners will be announced at the red-carpet awards show on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, celebrating the creativity and talent of students from across the state.
