Celebrity Presenters Bring Star Power To 31st Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase Of Films

The Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission welcomes an exciting lineup of celebrity presenters to the 31st Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films (SSOF), taking place May 1, 2026, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre. This year’s event brings together notable voices from film, television, and wildlife conservation, adding fresh energy to Florida’s largest student film competition.

Among the special guests is Rob Van Winkle, famously known as “Vanilla Ice”, a longtime supporter of SSOF who has spent more than two decades championing young filmmakers. Rising to global fame with “Ice Ice Baby,” he built a dynamic career across music, film, and television, including his home renovation series, “The Vanilla Ice Project”. He also serves as a judge for the Music Video category that bears his name, celebrating standout creativity in rhythm and visual storytelling. His upcoming film “Zombie Plane” is set for a nationwide theatrical release in Fall 2026.

Also taking the stage is rising young actress Melodie Rose Romano, recognized for her role as “Sofia” on ABC’s “R.J. Decker”. A Palm Beach County native, Romano represents the next generation of talent gaining national recognition. She will next appear in the upcoming Netflix film “Bad Day”, starring alongside Cameron Diaz and Ed O’Neill.

Actor Hank Greenspan, known for his role on CBS’s “The Neighborhood”, has continued to build a dynamic presence across television and film. He also portrayed a young Justin in “13 Reasons Why”, demonstrating his range at an early age. Now stepping into a leading role, Greenspan stars in the coming-of-age feature “Ethan Bloom”, further establishing himself as a rising talent to watch. Audiences will have the opportunity to see him again at the Movies of Delray theater on May 2 for an exclusive Q&A screening of “Ethan Bloom” offering insight into the project and a closer look at his performance.

Rounding out the lineup is Jeff Corwin, whose work as a television host and conservationist has informed and inspired audiences around the globe. Known for series such as “Wildlife Nation with Jeff Corwin: Expedition Florida”, where he collaborates with biologists, conservationists, and the Miccosukee Tribe to protect Florida’s wildlife, as well as “Going Wild with Jeff Corwin”, “The Jeff Corwin Experience”, and “Ocean Mysteries”, his presence highlights the powerful role storytelling plays in both entertainment and environmental awareness.

Hosted by Emmy-nominated entertainer Frank Licari, the 31st Annual SSOF celebrates student filmmakers from across Florida, highlighting creativity, storytelling, and technical skill across a wide range of categories. With more than 600 submissions received this year, the event continues to grow as a leading platform for emerging voices in film.

The addition of these presenters, along with a few special surprises, reflects the Showcase’s mission to connect students with industry professionals while celebrating the future of filmmaking.
