31ST ANNUAL STUDENT SHOWCASE OF FILMS: WINNERS ANNOUNCED

The Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films drew a full house on May 1, 2026, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, as students, educators, families, and community leaders gathered to celebrate Florida’s next generation of filmmakers.

Now in its 31st year, the state’s largest student film competition featured a red carpet pre-show followed by a live awards ceremony recognizing top talent from across the state.  Hosted by three-time Emmy-nominated entertainer Frank Licari, the program delivered an energetic celebration of creativity and storytelling.

This year’s theme, Set-Jetting, encouraged students to consider how film and television inspire travel, highlighting the role of location in shaping narrative and visual impact. A record 636 entries from 95 high schools and colleges were reviewed by 46 industry professionals, with more than $30,000 in scholarships, cash awards, and prizes presented to finalists and winners.

Special appearances by Vanilla Ice, Jeff Corwin, Melodie Rose Romano, and Hank Greenspan added memorable moments to the celebration. The event also featured the presentation of the $5,000 Burt Reynolds Scholarship, awarded to Lyla Claggett of G-Star High School of the Arts, continuing its legacy of supporting emerging filmmakers.
