Clematis Street

West Palm Beach

downtown streetscape with a remarkably useful range of looks. The five-block corridor runs from Flagler Drive and the waterfront west toward Rosemary Avenue, with historic commercial buildings, restaurants, offices, apartments, bars, pedestrian areas and public spaces. The 500 block is a designated historic commercial district with buildings dating primarily from 1918 to 1929. The street has been redesigned with a curbless, flexible streetscape, retractable bollards, wider sidewalks, outdoor dining and areas that can be adapted for pedestrian or event use.

Clematis Street is the historic heart of downtown West Palm Beach and one of the city's most versatile urban filming locations. The corridor stretches approximately five blocks between Rosemary Avenue and Flagler Drive, transitioning from historic commercial architecture and storefronts to the waterfront, public spaces and views of the Intracoastal Waterway.

The streetscape offers a broad mix of visual environments. Historic buildings, many dating from the early 20th century, sit alongside contemporary restaurants, offices, apartments, bars and retail spaces. The 500 block forms the Clematis Street Historic Commercial District, with a concentration of buildings constructed between 1918 and 1929, including Mediterranean Revival and masonry vernacular architecture.

For productions, the street provides opportunities for urban establishing shots, pedestrian scenes, restaurant and nightlife exteriors, business districts, historic downtown settings and South Florida street life. The redesigned streetscape is curbless and incorporates wider sidewalks, landscaping, outdoor dining areas, on-street parking and retractable bollards that allow portions of the street to be adapted for pedestrian and event use.

At the eastern end, Clematis connects directly to the West Palm Beach waterfront, including Centennial Square, the Waterfront Commons and the Great Lawn. The area provides additional open space, fountains, landscaping, pedestrian paths and views toward the Intracoastal Waterway.

Scout Note
Clematis Street is best approached as a collection of looks rather than a single location. A compilation of historic storefronts, contemporary nightlife, restaurants, office and residential architecture, pedestrian activity, seasonal markets, public spaces and waterfront exteriors within a compact downtown area. The 500 block is particularly useful when period or historic commercial architecture is needed, while the eastern end opens to the waterfront and larger public spaces. Street configuration, pedestrian activity, events and individual property access should be considered when planning a shoot.
