27th Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films
Award Ceremony Promises to be a Star Studded Affair
Jupiter, Florida (May 3, 2022) – The red carpet is being rolled out in honor of some of the most creative students across the state of Florida.
The 27th Annual Palm Beaches Student Showcase of Films Award Show is this Friday, May 6, with more than $20,000 in cash and prizes on the line.
The backdrop for the awards show will be the newly renovated Maltz Jupiter Theatre.
Reality TV star and rapper Vanilla Ice; Ted Melfi, the director of “Hidden Figures,” a film nominated for three Academy Awards; and producer, writer, actress soon be seen starring opposite Vincent D'Onofrio, Tim Allen, Dax Shepard and Jessica Alba in the new feature film, El Camino Christmas, Ms. Kimberly Quinn will be among the celebrity presenters, along with several local television personalities. Frank Licari, an Emmy-nominated host, a Telly and Addy award-winning writer, producer, actor, and star of South Florida PBS’s “On the Town in The Palm Beaches” will host the live show.
One highlight of the morning will be the presentation of the Burt Reynolds Scholarship, named after the late actor who founded the old dinner theatre which opened in 1979. The award will be presented by actress and award-winning documentary filmmaker, Suzanne Niedland, multi-award-winning film and television writer, producer, director, and cinematographer Frank Eberling, and award winning veteran Aaron Wells whose work has garnered national honors including Addy, Aegis, Communicator, Telly and Vision awards.
“This year, the Student Showcase of Films received hundreds of submissions from nearly 50 different schools across Florida,” said Michelle Hillery, Palm Beach County’s Deputy Film Commissioner and Executive Producer of the Student Showcase of Films. “Our judging panel of 50 industry professionals had a tough assignment choosing the finalists, and at the live awards show the audience will experience firsthand the outstanding level of talent found in Florida schools!”
