The Palm Beach International Film Festival (PBIFF) is proud to announce the 13th Annual Student Showcase of Films’ Official Call For Entries. The highly acclaimed festival is the largest statewide film competition and awards ceremony for Florida student filmmakers. The juried competition recognizes outstanding high school and college students by presenting over $10,000 in scholarships and awards in 6 film categories, a screenwriting and poster competition. Honoring the legacy of Mr. Burt Reynolds, the festival also awards annual scholarships bearing his name.This Student Showcase of Films Awards Ceremony will host more than 800 attendees from around the state of Florida.  The Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2011 from 10:00am to 12:30pm at Palm Beach Community College, Lake Worth Campus’ Duncan Theatre.

Winners are invited to screen their films during the Palm Beach International Film Festival at their very own premier.  Guests included such notables as Steven Bauer, Amanda Bynes, Vincent Cecere, Clint Howard, Jonathan Krane, Louis Lombardi, Vincent Pastore, Burt Reynolds, Al Sapienza, Tico Torres and Nick Zano.  The Festival has provided over $1 million dollars in grants and scholarships to area schools and students since its inception.

 This program is funded by the PBIFF, the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners, the Palm Beach County Economic Development Office and the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission.

Florida’s Largest Film Competitions 

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: February 1, 2011  

Eligibility:  Applicant must be a Florida Middle School, High School or College Student (See each category for specific eligibility requirements) 

Categories, Awards & Requirements: 

Feature/Short Film – Open to Florida High School and College Students. First Place $800, Second Place $400 and Third Place $300. High School and College entries will be judged separately but awarded at the same funding levels. Films must be 30 minutes or less. Funds will be awarded to the submitting school. 

Documentary – Open to Florida High School and College Students.  $400 Award. Film must be 30 minutes or less. Funds will be awarded to the submitting school. 

Music Video – Open to Florida High School and College Students.   $250 Award. Video must be 5 minutes or less. Funds will be awarded to the submitting school.   

Commercial/PSA – Open to Florida High School and College Students.  $250 Award.  Video must be 30 or 60 seconds or less. Funds will be awarded to the submitting school.   

Screenwriting - Open to Florida High School and College Students. $350 Award. All work must be original. Adaptations are not permissible. Submissions must be: short film (narrative); 5-45 pages; in any genre. Funds will be awarded in the writers name. 

$5,000 Burt Reynolds’ Scholarship - Open to Palm Beach County High School Seniors Only.  Funds will be awarded in the student’s name. 

2012 Student Showcase Poster – Open to Florida Middle School and High School Students.  $250 Award.  Funds will be awarded in the artist’s name.   

How to Submit –

• Complete an Online Application (click ‘START HERE’ below to launch). Application must be completed online no later than midnight PST, February 1, 2011.

• Review your Online Application for accuracy.

• Submit your Application.

• Print and Sign your Online Application. (You may want to print a second copy for your records.)

• Assemble your package with all the required materials and mail. 

IF APPLYING FOR MORE THAN ONE CATEGORY, EACH ENTRY MUST BE SUBMITTED INDIVIDUALLY, ONLINE and BY MAIL.
