On Location Education Program |
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the
first three half-hour television programs produced by students
participating in the six-month On Location Education Program!
The On Location Education Program (OLEP) was created through a
partnership between the Palm Beach County Film and Television
Commission (FTC) and Palm Beach County Office of Economic
Development (EDO) to give students in Palm Beach County
classrooms hands-on experience in television production. The
OLEP provided students and teachers with the opportunity to
learn new industry techniques and gain real world experiences
by producing a half hour TV show with distribution in place.
Students and teachers are paired with an industry expert to
guide the production process and a committee of experts in the
related field to assist with content and insure accuracy.
Below is a list of participating schools and the topics they
were assigned, as well as a link to each half-hour program.
Programs were also was given the opportunity to air on the
School District of Palm Beach County’s cable TV network, The
Education Network Channel 19, upon completion of production.

Palm Beach County Criminal Justice System – Youth Court
Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts, West Palm Beach
Committee Chair: Barry Krischer, State Attorney, Palm Beach
County |
Palm Beach County’s criminal justice system is committed to
addressing issues that impact youth in its jurisdiction. Youth
Court focuses on the indispensable benefits that this vital
initiative, developed to address juvenile crime and justice,
has on Palm Beach County. The court tries minors who admit
guilt to a misdemeanor by a jury of their peers and focuses on
reduced punishment for those who are willing to take
responsibility for their offenses.
State Attorney Barry Krischer credits the Youth Court show and
the publicity associated with it as being instrumental in
getting a commitment from the Board of County Commissioners to
fund the program over and above the collections authorized by
the statute. |

Committee Chair: Harvey Oyer, Chairman, Historical Society of
Palm Beach County
|
The Palm Beach County Courthouse, located on Third Street and
Dixie Highway in West Palm Beach, is a little piece of history
in Palm Beach County. Constructed by Henry Morrison Flagler in
1916, it was used to house many workers that helped build and
work for the railroads, hotels and commercial establishments.
Throughout the years it has served many purposes beyond being
Palm Beach County’s first courthouse, including acting as a
jail.
The Historical Society of Palm Beach County invites you to
view this documentary that takes you through the history of
the courthouse, the restoration process and future plans for
an 18,000 square foot museum and plaza for all of the
community to enjoy. |
