The film commission is thrilled with the success of attracting programming and focusing on tourism in Palm Beach County.  Not only did the star studded gala at the Boca Raton Resort & Club attract ample attention, but the filmmakers flocked to educate the students at the annual Student Showcase of Films at PBCC’s Eissey Theatre. Al Sapienza (Sopranos), offered students inspiration and advice, while Sally Struthers and Bret Ratner (Rush Hour, Red Dragon) videotaped her congrats to student winners. PBIFF received a record number of student entries this year (128 in all), proving that supporting industry education is paying off for Florida’s youth.  The student winners enjoyed meeting celebrities Anthony Hopkins, Ed Norton and Bret Rattner at the Gala. “I had a great opportunity to meet so many film people. Directors and actors expressed a lot of interest in my project, Taken Away and I am so excited,” commented High School 1st place winner Lee Anthony Cippola, Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School, Miami.

Tommy Bahamas
101 N. Clematis Street
WPB, FL 561.804.6968

Right across from the fountains in West Palm Beach on Clematis St. exists a tropical getaway the likes of which this county has never seen. Rattan and floral decorate the unique restaurant. A background of Bahama-like tiki furniture completes the experience. You might have noticed the fanfare downtown during the Palm Beach International Film Festival when Tommy Bahamas hosted the Closing Night Party. Located in the New Orleans-style building at 101 N. Clematis, Tommy Bahamas is a unique location garnering a reputation as one of the most film-friendly in South Florida.  When you stop by ask for the GM Warren Dunkleburger!!

Moroso Motorsports Racing to Prime Time(Top)

MTV selected Moroso Motorsports as the ideal location for its upcoming drag racing documentary. After a national search and a South Florida tour, MTV Producer Bill Richland decided that Moroso was the perfect place to get the footage needed to complete the tire-squealer feature.  The crew came to a Friday night Test & Tune and filmed local racer Joe Gonzalez of Japtrix.  The final footage was shot during the April 7  BUZZ Sport Compact Spring Nationals. The documentary is slated to air later this summer.

It’s not just my MTV screeching to a halt in PBC. World famous NHRA announcer Bob Frye was at Moroso Motorsports Park last month for an ESPN2 taping of NHRA TODAY.
