BAD BOYS II TO OPEN NATIONWIDE THIS MONTH (Top)

Despite several rain delays, Alan Jackson’s music video for It’s Five O'clock Somewhere shot on location at Castaways Marina across from the Jupiter Lighthouse on June 21. The song, a duet with music great Jimmy Buffet, was record for Jackson’s untitled greatest hits album due out in August. The video features Jackson walking through a “magical door” and onstage with Buffet. Jupiter Vice Mayor Babs Henderson says of the shoot, “We’re absolutely thrilled. This is going to put Jupiter on the map.” Marina owner Jimmy Burg, an acquaintance of Jackson, suggested the location for the shoot. The video is slated to air in July.

July 18, 2003 marks the debut of Bad Boys II, the highly anticipated action thriller produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay. The film stars Wil Smith and Martin Lawrence as narcotics cops that head up a task force investigating the flow of ecstasy into Miami. Palm Beach County moviegoers will enjoy seeing their hometown on the big screen as a Hummer is driven through the wall of the $16.5 million Delray Beach mansion prior to being blown up. For their extraordinary effort, Delray Beach will be getting mention in the credits for its part in the film.

BODY OF EVIDENCE FILMS IN PALM BEACH COUNTY  (Top)

Body of Evidence: From the Case File of Dayle Hinman visited several locations in Palm Beach County last month including I & J Station House Restaurant in Lantana and West County Jail in Belle Glade. Special Agent Dayle Hinman, now retired, worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as one of the country’s leading forensic profilers. This episode is from a case Hinman worked on with the Boca Raton Police Department to identify the perpetrator of several violent crimes in the area. I & J Station House was chosen for the “predator” fish tank (one of 9 tanks in the restaurant) Hinman and a Boca Raton police detective sat in front of to re-enact their original meeting seven years earlier. This particular tank was chosen due to the fact that the suspect was described to be a “predator.” Hinman’s assistance ultimately lead to the arrest and conviction of David Micheal Miller. Jennifer Fetsch with Storyhouse Productions, a Washington DC based production company said of the location, “It was perfect! We couldn't have found a more perfect location for what we were looking for.” The series airs on Court TV Thursday evenings at 9:30pm.

OFF THE CHAIN FINISHES PRODUCTION… Off the Chain,    (Top)

a feature length film produced by Ilucid Films and 24/7 Films LLC, wrapped shooting on June 30. Locations included AG Holley Hospital, West County Jail in Belle Glade, South County Courthouse in Delray Beach, Lake Worth Playhouse and the Green Owl Restaurant in Delray Beach. Producer Russ LeFreniere said of the shoot, “Palm Beach County offers so many fantastic locations. The cooperation between all involved provided for a flawless shoot.” The film stars actress/singer/songwriter Tomey Sellars as an unhappy wife who attempts to have her husband murdered by hiring a hit man.

LEMONADE HONORED AT FILM FESTIVAL   (Top)

Locally produced indie Lemonade was honored on May 31 in Saint Petersburg, Florida, at the Saints & Sinners III Film Festival, receiving an award for “Best Supporting Actress”. Writer/producer George Williams and producer/director Aaron Wells were there to accept the award. The film is about Tammy and Devon Smith’s plot to make everyone pay for forcing them to miss their school pool party to attend their Uncle George’s funeral. This is the third juried film festival it has been selected to appear in since its release. We are happy to note that it was shot entirely in Palm Beach County with a local South Florida cast and crew.
