TRAVEL CHANNEL SELECTS PALM BEACH COUNTY FOR GREAT HOTELS!

The Travel Channel will feature some of the most gorgeous Hotels/Resorts of Palm Beach County (PBC) in their upcoming show, Great Hotels, which will air in the Fall. The show features The Breakers Hotel and Hotel BibaJerry Smith, Executive Producer of Great Hotels for The Travel Channel, had this to say: “ We chose to shoot in Palm Beach County because its hotel destinations represent the contrast you have between the grand hotel and the innovative boutique.  The Breakers is one of America’s great historic hotels.  Hotel Biba in West Palm Beach is representative of West Palm Beach’s cutting-edge urban revival.  Both The Breakers and Hotel Biba are authentic sites of Palm Beach County.” In addition, the show will feature Rybovich Spencer, Kelly Bike Taxis at CityPlace, Rag Tops and “Clematis By Night”.   The Palm Beach County Film and Television Commission (FTC) markets tourism-based shows to increase future community business and tourism.

Governor Bush stated, “I congratulate the cast and crew for a job well done and encourage Floridians to tune into HBO for the premiere of this wonderful family film.”  Forest Hill Graduate Jan Rhees who was the Producer/Music Producer of The First of May, has been a guest panelist for the Student Showcase at the Palm Beach International Film Festival.  Rhees recently commented on the importance of the Festival: “I praise the efforts of the local community for inspiring young filmmakers to succeed in an enriching program such as the Student Showcase.  It allows young people the medium to express themselves and gain knowledge about the entertainment industry in their hometown.”
The First of May
is directed by Paul Sirmon and stars Mickey Rooney and Julie Harris.  HBO Family aired the show on July 1st, 2002 at 6:30 am.

BRINGING PRODUCTION TO PBC! (Top)
Media Options, Inc.’s Phil Press and Ray Jacobs partnered with Avanti Video and Film to shoot five Accutel commercials for three days last month.  Phil Press commented on the benefits of shooting in PBC: “This area is faster, better and more cost-effective than New York or Los Angeles.”

A&E’S CITY CONFIDENTIAL REVEALS MURDER IN PALM BEACH! (Top)
A&E’S City Confidential
taps into the dark side of every American city.  Palm Beach goes under the microscope to expose the twisted tale of the June 1996 murder of Geraldine Pucillo.  Pucillo, a Palm Beach resident and owner of Petite Marmite Restaurant, was murdered by Kim Cain, a 32 year old pest-control worker from Palm Springs. Cain was convicted of strangling Pucillo with a dress inside Pucillo’s home.  City Confidential shot for eight days last month in PBC and the show will air in the Fall!

EDUCATIONAL SHOW FOR KIDS ON PBS!

PBS’s Dragonfly TV for kids finished shooting two days in PBC last month.  The location featured in the show is The Marine Life Center in Juno.  Dragonfly TV is a science program show for kids by kids.  Dragonfly TV airs on WXEL at 4:00pm.

GQ Magazine hits the beach. (Top)
Select Services’ Gaby Schuetz hired All Star Locations Lisa Collomb to find the perfect beach location for GQ magazine’s Famous Athletes and their Mothers issue. GQ will feature Atlanta Thrashers’ Dany Heatley and his mother in Boynton Beach.  The issue will be on newsstands November 2002.


OFF THE CHAIN IN PRODUCTION. (Top)
Director Paul Dolan
and Writer/Executive Producer Diane Jocks along with Line Producer Alan Weiner team together to produce Off The Chain.  The romantic comedy is based on a true story about a distraught Florida woman who tries to kill her husband by hiring a hitman.  The film begins shooting in various locations in PBC on August 12th.  The film is going to be entered in the 2003 Palm Beach International Film Festival
