PBC
Rolls out the Red Carpet for the Film Festival |

The movies, the celebrities, the parties, the events and the
students are ready to dazzle. The 2002 Palm Beach
International Film Festival will be an event to remember.
From the opening night film, A Month of Sundays,
(starring Rod Steiger, Dee Wallace Stone, Al Sapienza, Sally
Kirkland, Sally Struthers, Jamie Farr) at the Carefree
Theatre in West Palm Beach, to the star studded Gala at the
Boca Raton Resort and Club (honoring Anthony Hopkins, Ed
Norton, James Whitmore and Brett Ratner) to the Student Showcase
of Films at the PBCC Eissey Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens
(featuring winners of the largest ever student competition),
this festival strives to embrace every facet of the County.
The community is getting
involved as well. PBIFF is the only film festival in the country
to donate its net proceeds to local film and television
education programs to help develop the filmmakers of tomorrow.
Our community helps the students by attending the films, the
Gala and the Student Showcase of Films.

Ship
Shape TV’s Executive Producer, writer, and host, John
Greviskis, hired Parallax Productions to shoot 26 new
episodes and re-edit 26 previous episodes for his popular
boating television show currently airing on WXEL and the
Sunshine Network. The wide range of topics attract
viewers at all levels of boating expertise. “We want to provide
the plans for how to get your boat ready for fun in the water,”
said Mr. Greviskis. The show will continue to be shot
on-location throughout the United States and has been host to
various marine industry celebrities including the late Jack
Costeau. According to Mr. Greviskis, Ship Shape TV
reaches an estimated 90 million homes in the United States. He
expects this number to grow to 130 Million in 2002, a
considerable increase since the show’s 2,000-homes beginning
eight years ago. He adds that Ship Shape TV is the only
improvement show on public television to have reached 19 on the
Nielsen and a rating of 2.3 with a 5 share. For more information

Two
outstanding locations share the spotlight this month for
their relentless efforts to secure film and television
projects: Canopy Palms Resort, Singer Island-Riviera
Beach and the Gulfstream Hotel, Lake Worth. These two
very different hotels share one hardworking individual,
Cindy Ekonomou, Director of Sales & Marketing for both
locations and a film friendly attitude. The Gulfstream
Hotel will serve as the Host Hotel of the Palm Beach
International Film Festival. Allowing filmmakers from
around the world to get a first hand look at the historic
landmark. In addition, the famous Lands End Catalogue shot
their summer session at the Gulfstream in February,
providing all of America with a great background for their
summer line.
The Ramada Plaza Canopy Palms Resort has finished its
facelift and is attracting quite a bit of buzz. The
kitschy, South Beach chic of the yellow hotel will star
(maybe even by title) in a new HBO/Cinemax series
later this year. The producers and the directors fell in
love with the colors, the atmosphere and the Tiki Bar, not
to mention the gorgeous beach.
Together these two hotels are providing
the aesthetic beauty, the personal service and the film
friendly attitude that will continue to bring on location
production to Palm Beach County.

August or September 2002. The feature film tells
the story of a female jockey and will mark
Clarke’s second feature experience in Palm Beach
County. In 2000, he shot 80% of Sea Ghost
Diaries, a spin off of Blair Witch
Project right here at home. In his career,
Clarke has written for and/or directed actors like
Eva Gabor, Rebecca Holden, Jackie Mason and Cliff
Robertson. His background is essentially
