Heeds President's Words

Jack Kemp

On the set of
Business First

"In the wake of what happened September 11, 2001, patriotism is stronger than ever," says President of Five Star Productions, Scott Woolley. "We are proud to assist global leaders in following President Bush's directive to maintain business as usual in the face of this national tragedy. In light of this directive, the taping for the television series, Business First, commenced this month at Five Star's studios in Delray Beach. CEO's and Presidents of some of the world's leading global corporations visited Florida for two days of taping. Jack Kemp, the host of Business First, and 1996 Vice-Presidential candidate, is also known for his contributions as a United States Congressman. He will tackle major economic issues, particularly relevant in the aftermath of last month's tragedy. Guests will include more than thirty top name, Forbes Magazine type executives from leading global companies. The entire business community is anticipating this show and its ingenious approach.

Heartbreakers is Back!

Heartbreakers, starring Signourney Weaver, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Gene Hackman, Jason Lee and Ray Liotta will make its video and DVD debut Oct 2, 2001. This #1 box office hit premiered in theatres in Spring after visiting PBC during production in 2000. In case you missed the beautiful Breakers Hotel, fabulous Flagler Drive and the Red Reef Golf Course on the big screen, you now have chance to rent it and pause at your favorite PBC locations.

From the Editor:

The tragic events of September 11, 2001 have changed America. As the World Trade Center Towers collapsed, a unique and united community rose out of the ashes. In the aftermath, our industry has struggled with the question of appropriateness; when is it appropriate for our business to get back to work? The President answered that question directly. He told us in no uncertain terms that getting back to business is paramount to our great nation rising from the rubble.
This issue of Focus on Film attempts to do just that-remind our readership that business continues, maybe not as usual but perhaps, even better than before. In fact, over the last few days, location inquiries have increased dramatically. Several commercials, a major print campaign and a feature film have taken serious interest in PBC.
We remember and respect those we have lost, we revere the heroes emerging daily and we honor America by doing our jobs.

The FTC expresses deep sorrow and sympathy for the victims and their families. We humbly thank the men and women who so bravely have endured the burden of rescue and recovery. We respect the leaders of our nation who have instructed us to beat terrorism by resuming routine.

Film Commissioner, Chuck Elderd, seized the opportunity to recognize our local media. The following is an excerpt from his letter:

Dear Colleagues:
We in the production community salute you! You have given the people of Palm Beach County constant reassurance of hearing and seeing the truth during one of the worst tragedies in our history. At the same time, you have provided us with messages of hope and goodwill.

To all of you, know that we are proud to be part of an industry that can summon the will to serve the people at anytime for the good of humanity. We are reassured. We take comfort in knowing that you are constantly watching. We appreciate you for having the character and the commitment to tell us what we need to know and when we need to know it. You are appreciated more than you will ever know.
To all of you, we say, "Well done, thank you and Godspeed."
