Florida Splashes Into NATPE
|
For the first time in
history, film commissions are uniting in support
of their local production companies to help them
sell at NATPE, Jan. 21-24. In Las Vegas, where
thousands of prospective clients, distributors,
television stars and executives gather to promote
and market recent projects, FL will make a huge
splash. Seventeen film commissions and production
companies have joined forces to establish the Film
in Florida booth. FTC L.A. Consultant Don
Tillman has been advising companies on how to best
utilize this opportunity. Instead of film
commissions separately pushing locations and
production companies underrepresented at the
enormous conference, Film Florida has joined the
two entities and film commissions will support
their local production companies as they pitch,
market and sell Florida projects.

The call went out last February, immediately
following NATPE 2001 for a united Florida presence
at the international trade show. Organizers have
worked tirelessly, coordinating a strong and
terribly impressive Florida attendance.
Participants include Universal Studios Orlando,
KO-Mar Productions, J. Golden
Productions, Pegasus Productions, Synergy
Broadcasting, Five Star Productions, Kerby
Glenn Productions, Film commissions from
Broward County, the Bahamas, Jacksonville, Space
Coast, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Orlando,
Miami/Dade, PBC, and the Governor's Office of Film
& TV and Florida Studios.

PGA
National Resort & Spa
Palm
Beach Gardens, FL
|
|
Work and play go hand
in hand when shooting at the PGA National Resort
and Spa. With five championship golf courses, this
award winning resort sits on 2,340 acres and
offers 339 deluxe guest rooms, 59 club cottages, a
world class spa, 19 tennis courts, a complete
fitness club, the largest croquet complex in the
Western Hemisphere, 9 pools, a 26 acre lake, 8
restaurants and lounges and a 33,900 square-foot
conference center with 23 individual rooms. And,
if that's not enough, this is one of the film
friendliest locations around. PGA hosted the 2000
FAM tour for South Florida production personnel
and continues to be a favorite choice of location
managers.

Joins Governor to Support FL Industry
|
|
The FTC sponsored a
multi-layered trailer designed to remind audiences
to support motion picture production in FL.
Created to raise awareness and appreciation for
the state's motion picture industry, the trailer
emphasizes the economic impact and job creation
that the industry brings to FL. "The film
industry was hit hard by the events of 911, as
well as by decreases in production spending by
advertisers, studios and networks," Governor
Bush said. "This promotional spot will serve
as a reminder for movie-goers to continue to
support our motion picture industry that has
provided 75 years of job creation for
Floridians."

in the advertising industry. The results of the
mission label it a resounding success. The FTC
made over 180 new contacts and potential clients.
The FTC's Director of Operations Michelle Hillery
was able to garner two new feature film leads and
an opportunity to network with leading advertising
decision makers. |
