PBC
named Florida's Feature Location |
|
In
an unveiling ceremony at the Sundance Film
Festival in Park City, UT the State Film
Commission unveiled its new website; www.filminflorida.com,
which announced Palm Beach County Film &
Television Commission’s website; www.pbfilm.com
as the state’s feature location. Powered by
Neuron Broadcasting Technologies, Inc. (formerly All
Video Network AVN). The State Film
Commission highlighted the County with its new
30-second commercial run in real time right on
the web. State Film Commissioner Rebecca
Mattingly said, “The Palm Beach County website
utilizes streaming video in an innovative
marketing technique to showcase the
community’s many wonderful features. We chose
the PBC website because they are one of the
first to use this new technology effectively and
we wanted to showcase what they offer.”
The
Film Commission’s website recently underwent a
complete overhaul by AVN, now Neuron
Broadcasting Technologies, Inc., adding many new and exciting
features including the streaming video. Not only
does the site show the 30-second spot, but demo
reels from local production companies are as
close at hand as a click of the mouse. Clips and
trailers from major past projects are available
as well.
AVN
recently changed their name to Neuron
Broadcasting Technologies, Inc. The company is known for
its innovative hardware products as well as its
web capabilities and decided its name should
reflect their new direction towards hardware
production while maintaining their current
Internet presence.
Neuron Broadcasting Technologies, Inc. can be found at
www.neuronbroadcastingcom.

Morikami
Museum and Japanese Gardens
Delray Beach, FL
|
|

|
In January, Morikami
opened the new Japanese Gardens exhibit, a
200-acre exquisitely beautiful and serene
landscape. A one-mile path gently travels
along reflecting lakes through incredible bamboo
forests and quiet, calming rock gardens.
The Morikami Museum is a unique partnership
between Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation
and Morikami, Inc., a private, not-for-profit
corporation committed to the preservation of
Japanese culture in South Florida.
The incomparable
aesthetics of the Museum offer many filming and
location possibilities from waterfalls to bonsai
exhibits to Zen gardens. In fact, in the
last year, Morikami has become one of the most
popular filming locations in the County with
only more filming expected with the expansion of
the Japanese gardens.
Already this
year, Morkiami has been featured in Victory
Gardens on PBS and on the Food
Network. Still photographers love the
lush landscapes and incredible backdrops the and
waterfalls provide. One of the keys to
having a wonderful filming experience at the
Morikami Museum is not just to view it as a
location, but to take advantage of the quiet,
well preserved museum setting and to enjoy the
unmitigated reverence to nature.

Filmmaker Declares PBC the Most Economical! |
|
Director Ari Novak,
known for his New York independent films Walk
the Walk, Imprisoned and the
documentary about Jackie Robinson,
Crossing White Lines chose to film
his new 16mm short, Deal
in Delray Beach and PBC because of the wonderful
and unique economics of making a film here.
"In New York, this film would cost me five
times as much to make. In Palm Beach County,
I can have the incredible aesthetics I need for my
film, great hospitality from an open and excited
community and I can do it all within a reasonable
budget."
This is exactly the
message that PBC is spreading around the festival
circuit, with appearances at Sundance, the
L.A. Film Festival, and, of course, the Palm
Beach Film Festival.
The film explores the
business of life and the choices that are made and
stars John Trapani, Angela Dawn and Mike
Maria. Novak is planning to enter the short
film in Sundance, Cannes and various
other festivals in 2002.
In a renewed effort
to attract and promote Delray Beach as a film and
television location, Robert Barcinski, Assistant
City Manager Delray Beach, explains that the City
of Delray Beach is actively helping to assist and
attract film and television production. The
City was the first municipality to adopt the Palm
Beach County Film & Television Commission's
One-Stop Permitting process. Recently, The
Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority, Old
School Square, Inc. and Ocean City Lumber
Properties, Inc., joined forces to vigorously
market the city as a filming destination.
Barcinski believes this is good for the community
"because it will encourage additional
economic activity in Delray Beach. |
