This month, the Palm Beach County Film & Television Commission released its 2000 Production Statistics, reporting a record-breaking production revenue total of $116,222,115, for a dramatic increase of 26% over 1999.

The increase represents the largest ever reported by the Film Commission, Palm Beach  County continues to develop and grow its own industry through a unique and highly successful partnership between the Film Commission, the Office of Economic Development (OEDP),  and the Palm Beach County Business Development Board (BDB).  "Not only did Palm Beach County have its most active year, with four feature films shot here on location, but the most significant increase occurred in production companies based in Palm Beach Country.  This points to the importance of maintaining and utilizing the incentives that the County has strategically developed to encourage production companies to relocate into our community," says Film  Commissioner Chuck Eldered.

Additionally, numbers on the rise include Hotel Rooms; 12, 400 rooms booked as a direct result of film, television or still photography production, a 12% increase over 1999.  Movies like Heartbreakers, The Librarians, Bully, and Do You Wanna Know a Secret?; commercials for Nike, State Farm, Coca-Cola; still photography shoots for People Magazine, Rolling Stone and Vogue,  not to mention television shows and specials like MTV's Road Rules, CourtTV,  and This Old House  all infused Palm Beach County with production dollars.  Currently, 81 television programs are produced in Palm Beach County, representing over 900 hours of programming produced by over 26 local production companies.

Permitting in Palm Beach County has risen a remarkable 34%.  The success that Palm Beach County has experienced as a result of its unique production incentives like the Studio Construction Grant, the Product Placement Grant  and One-Stop Permitting seem to isolate the County from the potentially negative affects of labor strikes and runaway production.  For PBC incentive information click here.
