Entertainment Tax Exemption in Effect January 1, 2001!

The long awaited and much anticipated Florida State Entertainment Industry Incentive, the Sales Tax Exemption takes effect January 1, 2001. As you may remember, the Florida Film Commission, Film Florida and many local film commissions worked tirelessly last spring lobbying congress to pass this important legislation.

Effective January 1, 2001, any qualified production company engaged in Florida in the production of motion pictures, made for television motion pictures, television series, commercial advertising, music videos or sound recordings may be eligible for a sales and use tax on the purchase or lease of certain items used exclusively as an integral part of the production activities in Florida.

In order to be exempt from Florida’s sales tax at the point of sale, the production company must apply for a certificate of exemption to be presented to a registered Florida sales and use tax dealer when making purchases and rentals of qualified production equipment.

Vogue Visits Wellington

The international fashion magazine landed in the equestrian fields of Wellington for a three-day shoot featuring Giselle Buchon, the industry’s hottest supermodel. Lisa Collomb, All-Star Locations, enticed the fashion superstar with breathtaking photos of various Palm Beach County equestrian sites. They wanted Giselle on a farm amidst show horses and Vogue wanted an authentic equestrian look that only Palm Beach County can offer.

Collomb is very excited because this project enabled her to establish contact with the elusive and lucrative world of high fashion. “Vogue now has the catalogue of popular Palm Beach County locations,” she says. Wellington is a fabulous community for filmmaking. In fact, Lassergut Farms hosted the shoot for a credit in the March edition.
