The
Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LPGA)
experienced a
glamorous end to their 2001 season in
the Tyco / ADT Championship Event at Trump
International Golf Club, WPB. These
professionals were treated to a first-class
golf experience on this magnificent course
and top-of-the-line accommodations at Donald
Trump’s Mar-A-Lago. Trans World
International (TWI) Production Manager Joe
McCarthy said “Our experience in PBC was
delightful. We received more cooperation
than in any other event we’ve produced.
I’m really looking forward to
returning.”
The FTC worked with Trans World
International, ABC Sports, and ESPN to
coordinate the live television coverage of
the event which resulted in 8 hours of
network broadcast time. Additionally, the
FTC helped coordinate a tourism video aired
during the ride from the parking area to the
fairways. Parallax Productions donated
a significant amount of time and resources
to this volunteer effort.
The
LPGA Championship will take place at Trump
International Golf Club again in 2002 thanks
to the tireless efforts of County
Commissioner Jeff Koons, PBC Sports
Commission, Tyco / ADT Championship, the
local organizing committee for the event and
the overwhelming support from the community.

Maritime
Academy Gets Slimed by Nickelodeon
|
The Palm Beach Maritime
Academy won
the fourth and final grand
prize of the Nick
Takes Over Your School
national sweepstakes,
sponsored by Kraft Foods and
Nickelodeon. Thanks
to 10-year-old Nickelodeon
fan Robert “Corey”
Hall, he and his fellow
students enjoyed a
fun-filled school day
featuring a concert
performance for hip-hop
artist and Nickelodeon
celebrity Nick Cannon,
Nick-style games, Nick
celebrities and plenty of
slime.
The festivities were hosted
by Slime Time Live hosts
Dave Aizer, Jonah Travick
and Jessica Holmes and
included a customized
version of the Nickelodeon
game show Slime time
Live (the messiest
show on television), with
students and teachers as
contestants. At the end of
the day, Corey was presented
with a Grand Prize check of
$1,000, followed by a $5,000
check for the school. The
ultimate honor was bestowed
upon Corey and Principal
Maria Turchiaro-they
were slimed on national
television.
“We were delighted to
provide a fun-filled day for
the kids at the Palm Beach
Maritime Academy,” said
Lisa Coker, Director of
Marketing, Kraft Foods.
“Kraft and Nickelodeon
have partnered on many
successful promotions in the
past and we’re thrilled
with the response to our
largest back-to school
promotion ever,” added Pam
Kauffman, Senior Vice
President, Promotions
Marketing, Nickelodeon.

It's
Showtime for Local
Producer
|
Local
producer Ike
McFadden’s
romantic comedy, 101
Ways debuts
nationwide on the
cable giant
Showtime December
3rd and 16th. This
marks the premiere
of McFadden’s
first feature
film. McFadden
first came to
Florida in 1994.
“I made Florida
my home base
because it’s
kind of half-way
between NY and LA.
I’ve come to
find that there
are a great number
of talented people
in South
Florida’s
production
community. Too few
NY and LA based
producers take
advantage of
it,” says
McFadden. This
ambitious producer
has started his
own production
company in PBC
called Perception
Media Group which
will specialize in
the next
generation of TV
programming. They
expect to be on
the air by
mid-2002.
101 Ways
is a quirky
romantic comedy
about the trials
and tribulations
of Watson, an
aspiring female
writer who is
forced by fate and
finance to take a
string of ever
more demanding and
demeaning
part-time jobs.
The film stars
Glen Fitzgerald (The
Sixth Sense),
Gabriel Mact (X-Files)
and Jamie Harold (Erin
Brockovich)
as the heroine’s
parade of equally
part-time friends
and lovers. |
