5-Star Is Rocking

Five Star Productions, in conjunction with The Mimi Group LLC, has produced a national 30-minute television special to air in July on the Outdoor Life Network that will focus on America's passion for fitness. Producer Brooks Parsons, Jr. took crews on location for a 4-day, 4-camera shoot at The 3rd Annual Paul Mitchell Miami Beach Sport & Fitness Festival. The event has never previously been televised. The television show, hosted by Kate Milliken will promote fitness as a lifestyle.

Hard at work on another project were producers Scott Woolley and Dan Barnett. They just completed another homerun in the entertainment industry with the shooting of two DVD projects for music legends Deep Purple and Dave Mason.

Production included an 8-camera shoot that recorded and switched two live performances. The DVDs will be mastered on DigiBeta with a 5.1 Audio Mix. Both shows are currently in post-production. "Besides the phenomenal show that kept the audience on their feet for the evening, hours of behind-the-scenes footage will be condensed and included in the DVD final release," explained Dan Barnett.

Palm Beach County Schools
West Palm Beach, FL

This summer many Palm Beach County schools have filled their empty halls with production. While students tried to forget their multiplication tables and lounged on the beach, lights and cameras, producers and directors took advantage of some of the best locations in the County.

Schools like William T. Dwyer High School provided the background for Sports Authority's latest print ad. The lecture hall of Palm Beach Lakes High School was transformed into a newsroom for KidsScienceNewsNetwork, a NASA program produced by Intramedia Productions in WPB. Later this month, Northmore Elementary classrooms will set the stage for a Phoenix Financial Group commercial.

Nat Harrington, Chief Public Information Officer of Palm Beach County Schools says, "Schools belong to everyone. We are good corporate citizens with the ability and the resources to help many businesses, including production companies. We are open to the idea of production in the public buildings and, as such, have been able to balance being film-friendly with protecting our students." This balance has tipped the scales in favor of the schools.

Scottish Trade Mission to Tour PBC Production Companies

The STAR (Scottish Technology and Research) Center, as part of the Scottish Economic Development Agency's aggressive plan to assist Scottish companies in globalization, is looking at South Florida for possible partnerships with U.S. based production companies. Scotland is promoting their creative industries and has established an incubator in Orlando. Diane Allen, Star Center Business Development Executive, is focusing on the Southeast United States, but specifically Florida. "Sometimes, productions and projects in Scotland find that they do not have the location, my goal is to say Florida is here," she says. "Many Scottish companies have felt that they had to go to Los Angeles or New York to satisfy their production needs. My mission is to provide them with information and encourage them to choose Florida." For more information, please visit the Star Center's website: www.scottishtechnology.com.
