Festival Spotlights Local Filmmaker
The Palm Beach International Film Festival premiered Do
You Wanna Know A Secret? to a full house. The
Muvico Parisian Theatre at CityPlace was packed with
local moviegoers dying to see the horror flick that shot
entirely in Palm Beach County last summer. "Thank
goodness, you all laughed in the right places,"
quipped Producer/Writer Del Tenney at the post screening
Q&A. Producer and Writer Kermit Christman was
thrilled with the turnout and with the audience reaction.
Christman is excited about beginning work on his project,
a courtroom suspense drama.
Additionally, The Sheraton WPB at CityPlace
and the FTC hosted the closing night wrap party
prior to the premiere of Do You Wanna Know a
Secret? "It was wonderful to end a
successful festival with a movie made right here at
home" said Film Commissioner Chuck Elderd. This
year, the Festival honored its founder, Commissioner
Burt Aaronson, film star Leslie Caron, director Jean
Becker and paid special tribute to French cinema. |

The
Children's Coalition
Honored by Film Festival
By Michelle Hillery,
FTC Director of Operations
It is a privilege to share with you the outstanding
accomplishments of an 11-year old program called The
Children's Coalition. Through the years this
fascinating program |

Commissioner Aaronson,
Augustin Gonzalez,
Carlton Cartwright and Tony Chambliss
|
has
adopted a total of 3,500 young adults and is
currently enriching the lives of 88 special
children. This year The Children's Coalition took
first place at the PBIFF Student Showcase of Films.
Augustin Gonzalez, whose project titled Images III
stole the show, was thrilled as PBIFF Founder
Commissioner Burt Aaronson and Co-Chairman and
Universal Pictures Vice President Tony Chambliss
presented him with his award and a $1,000 grant to
The Children's Coalition.
This well-deserved award illustrates to the
community the effectiveness of programs like these.
The Children's Coalition Executive Director Carlton
Cartwright has opened new doors- allowing these
children to discover hidden talents and to acquire
an appreciation of the arts. Most importantly they
ultimately develop an improved sense of self-esteem,
self worth, and pride.
Four years ago, The PBIFF Student Showcase of Films
became a real opportunity for these disadvantaged,
abused, abandon, dangerous, going nowhere kids. This
venue gave the kids of The Children's Coalition an
opportunity to tell their story. This year we honor
their story.
Today, PBIFF and the heart of this community are
proving to these kids that PBC cares. Through the
Student Showcase of Films, the kids of The
Children's Coalition can believe that doing the
right thing, working hard to produce something of
value, will provide the things in life they thought
were unattainable.
This County creates jobs through education,
internships and opportunity...The PBIFF Student
Showcase of Films has become that opportunity. |
